New York, September 16, 2009 – The Nielsen Company, a leading global information and media company and the CLIO Awards, one of the world's most recognized international advertising and design competitions, today announced that online event registration is now open for the first-ever CLIO Healthcare Awards to be held on November 13, 2009 at Skyline Studios NYC, a contemporary, modern space near Highline Park, befitting an innovative awards show. The CLIO Healthcare Awards will begin at 7:00 p.m. with creative and casual attire encouraged.

Throughout the evening, CLIO Healthcare Awards finalists’ work will be on display to create a visually stimulating environment for attendees. The night will truly showcase the tremendous talent and creativity within the healthcare advertising and communications community, while the layout and flow of the event will give everyone the opportunity to network, dine and socialize.

“We decided to do something fresh and new to mark the first-ever CLIO Healthcare Awards,” said Karl Vontz, Director of Events, AdweekMedia Events and CLIO Awards, The Nielsen Company. “We wanted to demonstrate the forward-thinking of our finalists through an inventive show design that raises the bar, similar to the bar our finalists have raised in their work.”

The CLIO Healthcare Awards will honor creative excellence and innovation in advertising and communications in the healthcare industry. Winners will be announced throughout the evening for both direct-to-professional and direct-to-consumer advertising and communications, covering the key areas of the healthcare industry, including pharmaceuticals, device and diagnostics, disease awareness, over-the-counter, and health services, highlighting work in print, poster, billboard, direct mail, innovative, interactive, TV/cinema/digital, radio, strategic communications/public relations and integrated campaigns. About The CLIO Healthcare Awards
The CLIO Healthcare Awards is an extension of The CLIO Awards, one of the world’s most recognized awards competitions for advertising, design and interactive, which celebrated its 50th Anniversary in 2009. Healthcare accounts for more than one-third of the U.S. gross national product and has become one of the most visible sectors of advertising, promotion and creative design in the last few years, particularly on TV and online, but is regulated differently and more stringently than traditional advertising and promotion.

The CLIO Healthcare Awards will be executed using the same rigorous standards and commitment to excellence as the CLIO Awards, but levels the playing field to qualify and judge this particular and massive industry sector more fairly and appropriately. The CLIO Awards and CLIO Healthcare Awards are produced by Nielsen Business Media, a part of The Nielsen Company, a global information and media company.
